Counselling for New Ross
Secure online and phone sessions across south-west Wexford — or in person in Gorey.
New Ross is a town that has weathered a great deal and does not tend to make a fuss about it. That habit of getting on with things is a strength, and it can also keep people silent for years.
Counselling & psychotherapy for New Ross
New Ross and the Barrow valley have lived through real economic churn — factory closures and reopenings, seasonal tourism, farming, and a great many people commuting to Waterford or Wexford for work. What that produces in the counselling room is often a very stoic presentation: someone who has managed for years and is only now saying out loud that they are not sleeping, not eating properly, or drinking more than they intend to.
Linda Corlett is an IACP-accredited psychotherapist with over 14 years of client experience, working integratively so the therapy fits the person rather than a template. She holds an MA in Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy, a BSc and MSc in Physiology, is a qualified general nurse, and completed a Level 8 Certificate in Clinical Work with Substance-Using Clients in 2024 — relevant for anyone worried about their own drinking or drug use, or living alongside someone else's.
Because New Ross sits at the far side of the county, most clients here work with Linda by secure video or by phone. Sessions are 50 minutes, held to the same GDPR and IACP confidentiality standards as in-person work, and charged at the same fee. There is no travel, no fuel, and no afternoon written off.
In-person sessions remain open: about 62 km and roughly 55 minutes via the N30 to Enniscorthy and then the N11, with free parking at the door and a ground-floor, step-free room with no shared waiting area. Some clients come in person occasionally and work online the rest of the time.
Anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, addiction, work or money stress, caring for a parent, or the slow sense that something is wrong and has been for a while — none of it needs a diagnosis or a referral first. One confidential phone call is enough to begin.

About New Ross
New Ross stands on the Barrow at the western edge of Co. Wexford, a medieval port town joined to Rosbercon on the Kilkenny bank and connected outward to Waterford, the Hook peninsula and the farmland around Adamstown and Clonroche. Its working life is mixed — manufacturing and food production, agriculture, care and retail, tourism around the Dunbrody and the Kennedy homestead — and many households run on a commute west to Waterford or north to Enniscorthy. The themes that come into therapy reflect that: job insecurity and shift work, alcohol as the accepted way to unwind, bereavement in tight-knit families where grief is expected to be brief, isolation on rural roads without transport, and young adults home from college in Waterford or Carlow struggling more than they will admit.
"Getting on with it has kept you going. It does not have to be the only plan."
Common questions from New Ross clients
How do New Ross clients usually attend?+
Most choose secure video or telephone sessions, because the drive across the county is long. In-person sessions in Gorey are always available if you would rather have the room — about 62 km and roughly 55 minutes via the N30 and N11.
Is an online session really confidential?+
Yes. Sessions are held on a secure, encrypted video link, nothing is recorded, and your notes are held under GDPR and the IACP Code of Ethics. The only limits are the strict legal ones: serious risk to life, safeguarding of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order.
What if I would rather not use video at all?+
Telephone sessions are equally available and equally effective for many people — no camera, no app, no download. Some clients find it easier to speak openly without being looked at.
What times can I book?+
Linda publishes her available days and times on the booking page. If nothing suits — shift work, farming hours, childcare — choose 'discuss times' and she will ring you back to arrange something realistic.
What does a session cost?+
€80 for 60 minutes and €110 for 90 minutes, by Revolut or on arrival. Online sessions are the same fee as in-person.
Who does Linda work with?+
Adults and third-level students. She does not currently offer child therapy, couples or family work, and will point you towards an appropriate service if that is what you need.
